I found this project by Big Motive and Boom Clap Play interesting to study for the theme of learning through play and movement, and the concept of including children in design.

Important Considerations for my Product According to ICO Children’s Code

Services for use only by schools do not legally need to conform to the ICO children’s code but good practice would nonetheless aim to satisfy as many requirements as possible.

Geolocation must be set off by default. (While my app will show the location of classes, it will not monitor individual users but rather be inputted by teachers and shared only with the other paired classes.)

Personal data must not be shared. (Only the teacher will have access to their own students’ profiles.)

If parents can monitor their child’s activity, it must be made clear to the child.

The design must be tailored for all age ranges which may use the product, and it is important to ascertain the ages of the user in order to only display content appropriate for their stage of development. For my product, this will be easy to achieve without any data collection as it is teacher led rather than student led, therefore the age of the class will be able to be manually inputted by a figure of authority.

User test the product with young users of the target demographic age.
