I enjoyed taking a more thorough deep- dive into the design industry through this module, I found it interesting to research and experience each of the major types of design work through each project, with the focus on securing a job at a company with the CV and portfolio, contracting freelance work in the tender document and pitching an idea to start up my own product in the investor pitch. Although for now I intend to work for a company, I enjoyed experiencing some of the work necessary in other methods of working, especially the investor pitch, as public speaking is something I normally find difficult, but due to my thorough research and confidence in my idea I was able to speak with assuredness and conviction. Thanks to practicing my presentation skills in this project, I feel more confident that I will be able to speak well when I go for a placement interview, for example. I also enjoyed the thought process behind calculating the costs of work in the tender document task, and considering all the elements which would be needed through my research in the theoretical design challenge of the Titanic Quarter. I also had the opportunity to research the current trends in the design industry, such as the rapid development of VR and AI technology, as well as the trend towards more minimalist design, and how this often creates a more easily navigable and accessible user experience. Through the various tasks in the module, I also had the chance to develop my own personal brand, which encapsulates a minimalist, formal aesthetic with bespoke serif typography. I tried to incorporate this brand into each of the various projects I undertook.
