Youtube’s focus on young adult users is evident in its simple logo and typography, and easily navigable site layout.
The typography of the site interests me, as the name of the video is displayed in bold black, while lighter weight, smaller sized grey type is used to show the less vital information such as the creator of the video and when it was uploaded. I also find it interesting how a blue circle notification shows next to followed creators when a new video is uploaded, helping the user to keep up to date with their favourite uploaders’ content.
Their logo and word marks also convey a sense of simplicity, conveying the brand values of accessibility and easy sharing and watching of media. YouTube uses a bold palette of red, white, and black, which are easily recognizable. The red triangle is a symbol for playing a video, which alludes to the site’s function, reinforcing the theme of accessibility and ease of use.
