This week I started brainstorming for the first project of the module, the music app. Currently I am most drawn to the idea of music in relation to culture and heritage around the world, as I have recently been researching the history of music around the world in my spare time, and found that this is as of now an obscure, but rich and expansive topic which people have many misconceptions on, therefore this could do well if introduced to a wider audience through something like an app focused on teaching musical heritage.

From this week’s lecture I researched Marcin Ignac. I find his work extremely interesting, as he creates intricate works of art using data points. Displaying this information in an intuitive and aesthetically pleasing manner. He also utilises technology to its fullest extent, displaying data using 3d models and code.

Initial ideas for music app:

• An app focused on traditional music of the world
• An app for learning how to play instruments, with sheet music for songs, highlighting the note currently being played, possibly with an option of sharing recordings to get feedback from other users.
• A function for checking any upcoming concerts a song or musician will be playing at.
