This week, I created my master-apprentice icon designs.

I am especially pleased with how the add music, album and watch icons turned out, as they were quite intricate designs, but I was able to replicate the proportions and shapes very closely to the original icons. I was not as pleased with the thumbs up icon, as the thumb appears somewhat too thin and curved, and the proportions are not quite right.
I researched further into the Noun Project after this week’s lecture. I find it extremely interesting how this project parallels Otto Neurath’s isotype project of almost 100 years before, in many ways. For example, both consist of simple, information conveying icons of the same style throughout, with a focus on quick and easy communication of data.
In my own project, I will possibly use icons to create connotations with a part of the world, for example signifying a country by something important to the culture or an element of the flag.
