This project started off very well, and I was pleased that my group agreed to research the Bauhaus, as I already had a strong interest in German design, and some knowledge about the Bauhaus, and was excited to learn more about it. With the first meeting, we made an outline of the tasks involved, and topics which needed to be covered, and researched the Bauhaus style, to inform the design of the slides.
The second meeting went well, although some members were not present. We were able to choose who would cover each topic, and I chose Johannes Itten and Laszlo Moholy-Nagy. I then compiled the remaining topics, and sent them to the remaining group members for them to choose which they would research.
The next week, after researching my chosen topics, I created this draft layout, and sent it to the group for review. After this, we decided on a colour palette, using the colours shown below.
I then continued to refine my design ideas, and showed these designs to the group. One of the other group members responded with a draft design similar to this, but unfortunately no other designs were shown to the group at the decided time, so I continued to refine these, as the group members who responded seemed to be designing along the same vein as this, which I responded in approval to.
We then decided on typefaces, agreeing to use Bayer’s Universal Typeface for the body text, and Staatliches for the headings.
These were my final slides, they are influenced by the angular, geometric lines of the Bauhaus style, and the main shapes used, the square, circle and triangle.
